Position Summary:

Provides administrative, program, and operational support to the Parks and Recreation Department. Assists with program coordination, facility operations, customer service, and clerical functions. This is a part-time position not to exceed 1,200 hours per year.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assists with development and maintenance of program schedules and promotions.
  2. Assists with planning, coordination, and supervision of recreational programs and events for all age groups.
  3. Assists with coordination and promotion of activities at MARC and Smith Multi-Purpose Center, including basic facility upkeep.
  4. Assists with preparation of flyers, brochures, and advertisements.
  5. Performs receptionist duties including answering phones, responding to inquiries, and addressing concerns.
  6. Performs clerical tasks such as data entry, document preparation, and maintaining records.
  7. Assists with receiving and responding to community communications.
  8. Serves as program support staff; hours may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  9. Assists with rink operations and serves as attendant as needed.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs other duties as assigned to support departmental operations.

Work Relationships and Scope:

Reports to: Parks & Recreation Director and Recreation Operations Manager
Supervises: May provide direction to seasonal staff as assigned
Work Relationships: Works very closely with employees in the same and other departments, customers, and the general public.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities, Qualifications Required:

Education/Experience: Prior clerical or administrative experience required. Experience in recreation or working with children and families preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Basic proficiency with office equipment and computers
  • Ability to assist in development of recreational programs
  • Experience working with youth and special populations preferred
  • Ability to perform light cleaning and operate maintenance equipment including power floor scrubber and vacuum cleaner

Qualifications: Candidates must pass a background check, physical and drug/alcohol screening. Must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License.
