Position Objectives:

Police Officers for the City of Merrill are responsible for the protection of life and property, crime prevention and detection, enforcement of laws and ordinances, investigation of crimes, investigation of traffic accidents and traffic control, apprehension of those who violate laws, maintenance of order in the community as well as providing general assistance and services to the public.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma
60 college credits / Associate's degree

Salary & benefits:  Salary is based on current contractual agreement. Contract salary range is $32.61 -$36.45 per hour, the best in Lincoln County! Lateral Transfer: The Merrill Police Department is now providing lateral transfer opportunities for experienced officers seeking to relocate to the Merrill community. Credit for up to seven (7) years of similar full time experience may be granted for purposes of pay and vacation benefits.

Qualifications:  U. S. Citizen, minimum age 18, 21 preferred, eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board certification, high school diploma, 60 college credits, drivers license with a good driving record, good physical condition, ability to possess a firearm, no felony convictions, no domestic abuse convictions, good verbal and written communication skills, ability to work unconventional hours, weekends, and holidays, ability to perform essential functions of this position, ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment.
