How often is water tested? Can I get mine tested?
If you live in the city limits of Merrill, the water is tested daily per guidelines of the Department of Natural Resources. Lincoln County Health Department does not test water within the city limits.
If you live outside the city limits, you can get a test kit at the Lincoln County Health Department. They can be reached at (715) 536-0307.
Where do I pay my water bill?
You can pay your utility bill at the Utility Warehouse on River Street if you are paying with check or money order only. There are no cash payments accepted at the Utility Warehouse. You may also pay your bill at the Clerk Treasurer's office at City Hall using cash, check, money order, debit or credit card. You also have the option of paying your bill online. Additionally, you may sign up to have your utility bill automatically deducted from your checking account. To do this you would need to complete some paperwork either at City Hall or the Utility Warehouse.
Who do I call about brown water?
Call the Water Utility office at (715) 536-6561. This is often due to flushing hydrants or work being done in the area and can be remedied by running cold water taps for 15-20 minutes.
Who do I call if I have a sewer backup?
Call the Water Utility office at (715) 536-6561 during regular business hours which are 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. If it occurs outside of business hours, call the non-emergency police line at (715) 536-8311 and the Water Utility personnel will be contacted.
